BACKGROUND
By 2050, two-thirds of the world’s population are anticipated to be living in the cities. As our urban ecosystems grow ever larger, technology has the potential to dramatically improve the lives of those living in them. With the onset of digitalization and the Fourth Industrial Revolution radically changing how we live, work and interact; the biggest impact will be felt on our cities.
Modern-day city sought for a connected, efficient infrastructure for better governance, economic development, and improved quality of life for its residents. This revolution is only possible through deployment of digital technologies such as the Digital Twin, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Autonomous Vehicles, Big Data Analytics, Blockchain, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and others. Geospatial will be the powerful integrator and an essential underpinning data in city’s digital transformation.
As the world aggressively moves towards digitalization, number one priority for cities are finding the ideal solutions towards safe, resilient and sustainable urbanization. The wealth of knowledge created through digital economy, digital construction, high-performing infrastructure and connected citizens will help cities become smarter and more data-driven in policy- and decision-makings.
