BiographyMy research topics are mainly on the digital twinning of urban infrastructure. Currently, I work with the Defense Science and Technology Laboratory and Port of Tyne on developing a digital twin for urban situation awareness. As a former architectural designer and project manager in the AEC industry, I have an interest in the digitalisation of cities and buildings. The intellectual transference between the subject of geospatial engineering and architectural and built environment is my main focus.AbstractIn this presentation, I would like to talk about the research project carried out at the EPSRC Geospatial CDT at Newcastle University and University of Nottingham. We carried out a case study at the Port of Tyne to develop its digital twin prototype. We will present the data schema, analytic method, and application of the digital twin. The operator can monitor and predict the operational status of the port including energy usage, cargo handling efficiency, and environmental cost. The port can prepare for disruptive events and adopt resilience strategies based on the digital twin. The project is also supported by the Dstl Ministry of Defense of UK. Viewers interested in smart cities, asset management, and marine logistics will gain an insight into how cross-domain data analytics can help the transformation of a modern marine port.
