Biography
Spiros Athanasiou is a Research Associate and Project Manager at IMIS/Athena RC. He received his Diploma in Electrical Engineering from NTUA, and has worked as a researcher, advisor and project manager in RTD projects of the public and private sector. His research interests include environmental data infrastructures, linked data, and open data. He is the Coordinator of FP7 projects PublicaMundi (open geospatial data) and DAIAD (monitoring and knowledge extraction from real-time water consumption data). He is leading geodata.gov.gr, the first open data infrastructure in Greece, and has contributed to the transposition of the INSPIRE Directive in Greece (Law 3882/2010).
