Abstract
INSPIRE Implementation as a Driving Force in Developing Statistical Services at Statistics Finland

Statistics Finland launched INSPIRE web services two years ago. Adopting of a new technology created plenty of new opportunities for statistical web services based on open interface services. At the same time, open data policy offered wide statistical data reserves for utilisation. Setting up INSPIRE services not only brought different actors of statistical production closer together but also brought various stakeholders involved nearer. A pilot project was run in autumn 2014 outlining a future service platform for statistical web interface service for data users. In this model, the statistical office is in central position with its statistical data, spatial statistical data and services. INSPIRE compliant national standards for services and data are in key position when designing interoperable spatial statistical services. However, statistical standards do not interoperate with INSPIRE compliant standards. There are thus a great deal of work ahead for integration of statistical practice and standards with spatial standards.
