Abstract Harmonizing at the Borders
The presentation covers work done by Czech NMA in the cooperation with foreign partners on determination of the common border line and edge matching of the crossborder features for medium scale topographic databases. The current status of work in progress is described for borders with all four neigboring countries, including varying initial conditions. Main challenges include different methods of determination of state boundaries in international agreements, different coordinate systems and transformation methods for source databases and differing approaches to classification and identification of object types. Maintenance of edge-matching, once achieved, is crucial benefit for future aplications and despite the challenges we believe that upkeeping the edge matching at the source level data is the most efficient way.
