Biography Anna Lleopart is head of the Cartographic databases Unit at the Cartographic and Geologic Institute of Catalonia, in Barcelona. She is responsible for the design of cartographic databases and the production of ICGC Street and address database of Catalonia. She has large experience in data modelling and has participated in several standardization working groups, both national and international. She has been the facilitator of the Cartographic Coordination Commission of Catalonia working group responsible for specifying the Municipal Address Dataset of Catalonia and is currently the facilitator of the working group specifying the Road Network dataset, both compatible with INSPIRE specifications.

The Cartographic Coordination Commission of Catalonia (C4) is the basic body of meeting, collaboration and coordination between the administration of the Catalonia Government (Generalitat de Catalunya) and local authorities in the field of mapping and related geographic information. The Cartographic Plan of Catalonia (CPC), which is coordinated and supported by the C4, defines and identifies the geographic datasets that Catalonia's public administration produces and uses, as well as establishes their structure, quality, availability, interoperability, updating and access conditions. Address information is one of the datasets included in the CPC and their compilation and maintenance is the responsibility of the municipalities. When the CPC started, there was not a single specification of this dataset between municipalities, but each council had a specification adapted to their needs. Therefore, in 2013, a common specification has been defined in the C4 framework, with the participation of the stakeholders. The specification is known as BDMAC (Municipal Address Data Base of Catalonia) and is compatible with the INSPIRE Data Specification on Addresses. Nowadays, municipalities, supramunicipal organizations and the Cartographic and Geologic Institute of Catalonia (ICGC) are adapting their data bases to the new data model. Furthermore, it has been defined the transformation between BDMAC data model and INSPIRE data model and a remodelling process is being set up, with ETL tools. The goal is to publish INSPIRE compliant address data through a transformation web service. Additionally, a process to check the conformity of the dataset to BDMAC specification will also be developped and published as a web service, so that municipalities can validate their datasets prior to publication. In the presentation, it will be explained the process, the problems encountered and the benefits of this case study of INSPIRE data specifications implementation through a transformation network service.
