Abstract
Optimal Route Analysis of the Civil Defense Centers Using Geographical Information Systems: Ajloun City Case Study, Jordan

The use of Geographical Information Systems in the applications of civil defense survives is significantly applied in the developed countries while it is still in the beginning in the developing countries such as Jordan. These systems pass over the problems of traditional ways of providing such services, thus; it enhanced and reduced the human risk. In this study GIS were used to build a geospatial database to determine the optimal routes which should be used to provide civil defense services to those in need in Ajloun city in Jordan. Network analysis was performed using experimental and real hot spots of accidents within the city, results showed that most of the city regions are not covered by the civil defense services and that the city is in need to establish new civil defense centers.
