Biography
Tim East is the Director of Enterprise Accounts for Trimble Agriculture, responsible for marketing Trimble’s precision agriculture solutions to corporate and OEM customers throughout the world. His passion for precision agriculture started at the farm and application level where he operated and managed the variable rate application of nutrients and crop protection products for customers of a regional cooperative in the southern United States. In this position, and several since, Tim has focused on new and different ways to utilize technology when applying inputs, measuring yield, and using geo-referenced data to help farmers spatially manage their operations. Tim joined Trimble Navigation in early 2007 and has worked as a Regional Sales Manager and North American Strategic Accounts Manager before accepting his current role.

Abstract
A Tapestry of Data: Imagery Applications Above and Below the Soil

The combination of detailed soil analysis, imagery and machine data in agriculture can be used to address issues affecting global climate change as well as stresses on natural resources like water and land available for agricultural use. Our recent integration of PurePixel and C3 soil analysis technology combines quality crop data with detailed soil information to make a more complete assessment of site-related influences impacting crop yield, quality and site health. This solution makes it possible to precisely map a 3-Dimensional view of the top four feet of the earth's surface, enabling the farm to overcome soil variability using variable rate applications of soil amendments, seed, fertilizer and water. These digital soil mapping tools and techniques, combined with imagery analysis, enable farmers to refine their cropping practices from field to field and season to season in order to improve crop health and produce higher yields while maintaining sustainability efforts and environmental stewardship.
