Biography
Shannon Ulmer leads the Technology function for the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, which provides valuable research information and integrated workflow solutions to governments and tax and accounting professionals on a global basis. In addition to overseeing technology strategy for this business, Mr. Ulmer leads the development of global platforms that are leveraged by the business product lines. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Ulmer was the vice president of Technology for the Tax & Accounting corporate software business. Under his leadership, Mr. Ulmer helped launch the ONESOURCE product line, which integrated all corporate products in an integrated software suite. He was also a key member of the acquisition team for more than 20 acquisitions within five years. Prior to that, Mr. Ulmer was vice president of Software Development for the sales and use tax business line. Prior to Thomson Reuters, Mr. Ulmer was vice president and chief technology officer for InSystems Technology, in Toronto, ON. In this role, Mr. Ulmer oversaw all software development for their electronic forms product line and was responsible for establishing InSystems’ dotcom business, which required raising more than nine million in venture capital funding. Prior to InSystems, Mr. Ulmer served in executive technology roles in World Marketing Alliance and Electronic Data Systems. Mr. Ulmer is a two-time winner of the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters Award of Excellence in technology, one of which advanced him to be honored as a Thomson Reuters President’s Award winner. He is a Kiwanis International past-president of the Atlanta Capitol Area Kiwanis club, where he worked on numerous fund-raising activities focused on improving the lives of children and the elderly. Mr. Ulmer also volunteers his time with Habitat for Humanity. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from University of North Texas with an emphasis on Business Computer Science. He received his Master of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University’s Cox Business School, where he graduated with honors (Beta Gamma Sigma).
