Abstract Footprint-oriented generation of traffic trajectories using Cellular Phone Data
The topics proposed in this paper concern the generation of spatio-temporal traffic trajectories by floating phone data from GSM network and equal map matching algorithms. The method utilizes mainly the data from handover operation records in wireless communication systems, which records the identification of cell station real-time connecting cellular phone. The principle for the generation of traffic trajectories is the geospatial coverage between best server plot of wireless communication and traffic network. This paper generates the intersection point between them and names it footprint. The main idea of the method is to select the footprints by geospatial analysis and then connect those footprint points by selecting road streets with constraint condition, like road function class, speed limit. The method generates a vast number of trajectories on highways and can be used for several applications in the field of transportation planning. The method generates a vast number of trajectories along highways and can be used for further traffic state acquisition.
