Abstract THE PEP
Administered jointly by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (Environment and Transport Divisions) in Geneva and the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe (WHO/Europe) in Copenhagen, THE PEP was launched in 2002 as an outgrowth of the 1997 Vienna Conference on Transport and Environment and the 1999 Third Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health in London. It seeks to encourage transport policymakers and urban spatial planners to take into consideration the environmental and health impacts of transport and mobility. Through a dynamic network of academics, experts and Member States of UNECE and WHO, THE PEP engages all three sectors on an equal footing in sharing best practices in sustainable and healthy transport and mobility, in particular in urban areas.
