Biography Mr Pascal Oehrli received a Master's Degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Geneva in 2001. The main work of his Master's Degree was a multicriteria modelling of urban transportation with a geographic information system (GIS) aggregating multisource data. He has over 12 years of experience working with GIS for the Canton of Geneva. In 2011, he was appointed Head of the SITG competence centre (Geneva's Territory Information System) responsible for the coordination, management and publication of geographical data of all the public and semi-public administrations in the SITG
Abstract Geneva’s Geographical Information System (SITG) – A Regional SDI to Share Geodata
The Geneva’s Geographical Information System (SITG) (www.sitg.ch) is a public partnership aiming to centralize and share without restriction GIS data produced on the Geneva territory and surroundings.
Since its creation 23 years ago, the geographical data produced by the public and semi-public administrations in Geneva are wildly shared between them and with the public. The SITG is a strategic asset across the Canton and is used by all public services on a daily basis for numerous thematics.
This large opening and sharing principles since the beginning made the SITG a must-have to organize the Canton and plan its future. It is a democracy tool, for citizens and the economy.
The SITG provide data, geoservices and is a decision making tool for public and private sector in the Great Geneva area.
