Biography
Luca DellOro is an environmental engineer who graduated from the University of Bologna (MSc, 2002) and in 2004 he also obtained a Masters Degree in Geo-Information Sciences and Earth Observation with specialization in Natural Hazard Studies (ITC, the Netherlands). As an Environmental Engineer and Geographic Information System/Remote Sensing expert he gained international experience working at the Spatial Science Innovation Unit (SSIU) of the University of Sydney, Australia. From 2005, he has been working as a Research Associate for UNITAR/UNOSAT, where he is primarily involved in training & capacity development related activities and GIS/RS data analysis and mapping for disaster prevention, emergency response and territorial planning. He has also published research on comprehensive damage assessments for Haiti following the 2010 earthquake, community-based disaster risk management, and database and GIS design for post-flooding recovery efforts.
