Biography
Rui Amaro Alves, joined Directorate-General for Territorial Development (DGT) in April 2012 and he is currently its Director General. He holds a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from Instituto Superior Técnico, Technical University of Lisbon, Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Technical University. Graduated in Geography and Regional Planning by Social and Human Sciences Faculty at New University of Lisbon. He also holds responsibilities at Escola Superior de Tecnologia de Castelo Branco as an Associate Professor of the Civil Engineering Department. Previously worked as a Senior Technician at Lisbon Town Hall and prior worked at the National Center for Geographic Information. He was formerly an advisor to the Secretary of State for Local Administration and Land Use Planning, and a professional at Endeme company.
