Anthony Whelan

Biography Anthony Whelan is a barrister. He has been a lecturer in public law at Trinity College Dublin, followed by a number of years as legal secretary in the chambers of an Advocate General at the European Court of Justice. He was subsequently a member of the Legal Service of the European Commission. He was head of the cabinet (private office) of EU Commissioner Neelie Kroes when she was commissioner for competition, and later when she became commissioner for the Digital Agenda. Since June 2013 he is head of the spectrum policy unit B4 in DG CONNECT and since 1 October 2013 acting director for Directorate B – Electronic Communications Networks & Services.
