Abstract
Open Standards for GeoSpatial and BIM Data, How are They Developed and What is Their Role in Building and Operating Built Environment

Rapid urbanization and the Smart Cities concept is putting high pressure on developers of built environment around the globe. Urban planning will become a more important exercise with several organizations and inhabitants participating. Two big paradigm shifts are affecting this simultaneously, all kinds of construction is rapidly becoming international and using high technology is becoming ubiquitous both in construction and operation of the built environment. Both mean that creating and managing information is becoming more and more important and in the presentation I will outline how open standards are going to be very crucial in this development. The presentation will give an insight both into how those standards are developed and what their impact will be.
