Abstract
One infrastructure, many applications

Now that the INSPIRE infrastructure is mature and entering into operational mode, it is time to proceed with mass implementations, and further prove that the developments of the pan-European SDI are already adding value to both providers and users of geospatial content. At the same time both users and providers of data across Europe are heterogeneous, thus requiring sometimes overlapping, but still different infrastructure components in order to better accommodate their particular needs. This implies the need for ?fine-tuning? of the INSPIRE components to be best fit for purpose, using the relevant components as demanded by stakeholders, and at the same time satisfying the legally binding requirements of the Directive.

The purpose of the talk is to provide a synthesized perspective on the different pilot and operational applications of INSPIRE components in many domains, including but not limited to air quality, Internet of Things and marine data management. The presentation will also emphasize on how the different implementation decisions are increasingly being used as a tool for accommodating domain and legislation-specific requirements (incl. through streamlining e-reporting flows, or extension of data models).
