Rolando Ocampo Alcantar
President UN-GGIM: Americas Mexico
Biography Rolando Ocampo Alc?ntar obtained the BSc in Actuarial Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and Master?s Degrees in General Statistics and in Labour and Education Economics at The Complutense University of Madrid and the Carlos III University, respectively. In the private sector, he was General Director of the opinion surveys firm GAUSSC and Director of the consulting firm CILA. He has collaborated in several government institutions in Mexico including the Office of the Republic?s President, the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs, the National Agrarian Registry and various areas of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography where he currently serves as Vice President of the Government Board.
Rolando Ocampo serves as Chair of the Executive Committee of the National Geographic and the Environmental Information Subsystem (SNIGMA), which has the responsibility to coordinate the State Units to produce, integrate and disseminate National Interest Information on the matters within its competence.
From August 2013 he is the President of the United Nations Regional Committee on Global Geospatial Information Management for the Americas (UN-GGIM:Americas), he is also Co-chair of the UN-GGIM Expert Group on the integration of statistical and geospatial information and representative of IAOS at the Scientific Program Committee of the International Statistics Congress 2015.
