Public Health
12 May 2022, BUILDING 43 - MICHELANGELO
Agenda
BACKGROUND
The emergence of global epidemics, such as COVID-19, has brought spotlight to the value of geospatial data and technology in monitoring and addressing public health crisis. Location-based information on disease spread pattern allows public health officials to map and visualize potential risk factors that pose threats to a population’s well-being so proactive measures can be taken.
In public health emergency scenario, situational awareness is most critical. Support from multiple agencies and external stakeholders, including public safety, humanitarian services, and health care, needs to be coordinated. A common operational picture derived by maps and data from location-based app will ensure response and recovery efforts are coordinated effectively.
