Space to Village - SERVIR Science Applications to Support Informed Decisions
Thursday, 28 May 2015, 1330 – 1500 hrs
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
SERVIR is a platform to improve environmental management and resilience to climate change by strengthening the capacity of governments and other key stakeholders to integrate Earth observations and geospatial technologies into decision making for sustainable development within the hub regions and beyond. SERVIR science applications are collection of satellite data, predictive models and innovative and integrated geo-based visualization tools to support informed decision-making. The applications are being developed largely within the framework of SERVIR, with the aim of providing scientists, managers, researchers, students, government officials and decision-makers with easy access to information. The science application features web-based access according to eight areas of societal benefit identified by the Group on Earth Observations (GEO): agriculture, biodiversity, climate, disasters, ecosystems, health, water and weather.
The objective of this session will be to exchange and share knowledge and experience of SERVIR science applications carried out within hub regions and SERVIR coordination office for improved scientific knowledge and understanding Earth. This technical session will cover the following presentation:
