Abstract
How to Make INSPIRE Matter - From Conceptual to Useable

This presentation will revolve around the Danish experiences on taking INSPIRE from the political and strategic contexts and make it work toward administrative modernization ends. The main focus in the presentation will be on why INSPIRE matters in Danish SDI policy making and how a more direct user angle will be reflected in the Danish INSPIRE work. The potential of INSPIRE to play an active role in supporting efficient and effective environmental management has not yet been fully exploited as the Danish government is moving toward a new Danish eGovernment strategy for the period 2016-20. Headlines in this work will be: digitization of processes and workflows, authoritative environmental data and user friendly solutions. Issues on communication, cooperation with non-geospatial experts, governance etc. will be touched upon as well as concrete examples of benefits, obstacles and challenges of making INSPIRE matter and continuously user relevant will be presented. The presentation will conclude with some reflections on the past, present and future for INSPIRE and on how the recently launched INSPIRE Maintenance and Implementation group has an important role to play.
