BiographyAlexander Gunkel is a serial entrepreneur using space technology for social and environmental good. He co-founded 3 impact ventures: "Skytree" which invented a CO2 recycling process to reduce global CO2 emissions, "RoadEO" which is developing a global road quality monitoring and prediction platform to improve road safety and comfort and "Space4Good" a geospatial innovation lab which monitors impact initiatives which the help of satellite earth observation. Before starting his entrepreneurial career Alexander studied mechanical engineering and business administration and worked as a project management trainee at the European Space Agency. AbstractSpace4Good and the Worldbank collaborated on the Big Data Observatory for COVID19 response and recovery. In particular we developed a air pollution (NO2) monitoring platform and application which helps WB economist analyse, visualise and combine NO2 data as a proxy for socio-economic development throughout the COVID-19 period. We would be sharing our work, insights and next steps on our work in Indonesia, Vietnam and selected MENA cities.
