He was a key member of conceptualizing spatial component for Disaster Management Information System - Maharashtra State and Jamshetji Tata Centre for Disaster studies at TISS.AbstractCyclone Impact Prediction on Reliance Jio Infocomm Telecom AssetsThis paper presents an approach to predict risk due to cyclone for Reliance Jio assets spread across. The risk is predicted for the assets that are at threat due to high wind speed and inundation. Data driven inductive approach is used for determining Vulnerability Index (VI) for the assets based on variables-wind speed, landuse and slope. These variables are grouped and assigned weight depending upon their relevance and translated into relative vulnerabilities. Equal hazard map with influence zone is determined using Rmax model based on Wind speed. The rainfall zone is marked and overlaid with historical inundation area. Actual VI pertaining to current event for all the sites are prepared. The assets classification is filtered for the sites under threat. Field validation were carried out and output modified and re validated. The overall accuracy of predicted sites and actual impacted sites increased to 58% from 10% of first model. About 80% of impacted are among the predicted one. 82% impacted are from severe to high VI. Direct Position error for location by IMD and complex weather system results in lower %. However, this study has aided in preparedness to deal with calamity and chance to improve upon the model.
