BiographyDr Tina Thomson is Head of Catastrophe Analytics at Willis Re and is responsible for the analytics services to a wide range of re/insurance clients across the West and South region of Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). In addition, Tina holds a leadership role as Director and Honorary Treasurer at the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society (RSPSoc), which promotes the fields of remote sensing and photogrammetry across education, science, research, industry, commerce and the public sector. She is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (RGS-IBG), and frequently presents at conferences and hosts industry events to promote the geographical sciences in re/insurance.
Tina has a PhD in Geomatic Engineering from UCL. Her background is in catastrophe model development, having worked at both JBA Risk Management and at Risk Management Solutions (RMS) as a Lead Model Developer early on in her career. Tina held numerous senior roles, including Modelling Manager and Business Partner at MS Amlin, where she was responsible for catastrophe analytics for the Property & Casualty insurance business, as well as informing the Groups view of catastrophe risk as Research Manager, before joining Willis Re in 2018.
