Beyond SDI - What Comes Next

The SDI framework for dealing with geospatial information was developed in the 1980s and 1990s. Since that time there have been very many transformational technological and other changes which impact directly on geospatial information and related matters.

It is essential that focussed discussions take place within the geospatial community and beyond which aim to get clarity regarding what new framework is appropriate to deal not only with the current situation but, importantly, with the possible emerging future within which geospatial information and analytics would exist.

EUROGI has over many months facilitated such discussions amongst a group of global geospatial thought leaders. The EUROGI session at the GWF will provide an opportunity to hear their views on the ‘Beyond SDI - What Comes Next’ topic and for participants to contribute their thoughts. It will almost certainly be a most stimulating session on a topic of major importance.

To be well prepared for this session, we invite you to read the evolutive and collaborative background paper that will be finalised in Amsterdam. Your comments are welcome here.
