The space and spatial sectors have never been so crucial for the future of humanity. Both the sectors play a fundamental role in driving the development goals of nations, the growth of the economies, navigating the response to natural disasters and climate change, and so on. The space industry encompasses Satellites; Earth Observation (EO); Positioning, Navigation & Timing (PNT); and Communications, including the Internet, which sets up critical elements of communications and important content. At the same time, the geospatial industry provides the subsequent spatial data infrastructure, value-added services, analytics, and actionable insights to the end-users of various industries and across global societies.
These two sectors independently deliver a substantial benefit to support diverse user requirements. The combination of space and geospatial adds enormous value for social, environmental, and economic benefits, especially with the emergence of New Space, AI/ML, miniaturization of sensors, etc. There is a massive opportunity to integrate space capabilities into spatial services to provide new, incredible capabilities.
Geospatial World Forum 2023 shall host a two-day Space + Spatial Value Chain symposium to specifically deliberate with the key stakeholders of both ecosystems on actions that can be taken in the future to accelerate the growth of the space and spatial industries working together.
