National Mapping

BACKGROUND

Role and relevance of Geospatial information has permeated into all spheres of modern living. No longer limited to national security or socio-economic and environmental management, geospatial information is now providing competitive edge to businesses and becoming a daily necessity for digitally-connected consumers. National Mapping Authorities (NMAs) must continue to modernize their geospatial strategies and workflows to cater to the increased demand for geospatial content, while remaining effective and cost-efficient.

Innovations in 4IR technologies have transformed how geospatial data is captured, managed and produced. More and more industry players are now contributing to the creation of geospatial content, which continues to expand the geospatial value chain and its larger ecosystem. Sharing and collaboration around national data and downstream apps and services will create value and new business models for NMAs as well as the industry.

The National Mapping program will discuss the evolving geospatial stakeholder ecosystem, technology trends, new opportunities, and the ideal collaborative framework for better national geospatial knowledge services.
