BiographyFerdinand BAKO was appointed Director of Territory mapping in 2015.
Since joining IGB in 2007, Dr. BAKO has held a number of assignments. He was a senior staff in the office in charge of GIS, mapping and remote sensing (2007-2009), head of the GIS, mapping and remote sensing office (2009-2015) and Director of Territory Mapping (2015-2021). He also serve as lecture in Land Cover Classification System in Geography Department and lecture in National Spatial Data Infrastructure in Informatics and Climate Change of WASCAL at University Joseph KI-ZERBO of Ouagadougou. Dr. BAKO is familiar with UN GGIM Africa activities since 2016 and is the team leader in charge to conduct the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (IGIF) activities in Burkina Faso since 2018.
Before joining IGB, Dr. BAKO worked for seven years (2000-2006) as independent consultant in private companies like Expert in GIS and remote sensing.
Dr. BAKO holds a Doctorate in Geography from University Joseph KI-ZERBO of Ouagadougou and a masters degree in GIS and remote sensing from Obafemi Awolowo University of Ile-Ife in Nigeria.
