BiographyFrederik Boersma has a long history in GIS, Asset Management, Water analysis and Digital twins with international software vendors Intergraph, Bentley Systems as well as national integrators in The Netherlands. Since 2020 he established a new company which advises asset owners with the implementation of 3D GIS, BIM and Digital Twin technologies. AbstractEvides, a water production and distribution company in the West of The Netherlands, is establishing its Digital Twin strategy. While the goals of the twin concept are commonly understood these days, it is not so obvious to find the business justification for all the departments that will have to contribute to the model. It will be complex from a semantic, technology as well as business perspective to bring everything together. Luckily, there are new forces that come to help. The energy transition, climate issues and housing challenges combined form the twin's main drivers. We'll describe the challenges and initiatives for Evides' network area, which includes the world's largest port outside China and Korea, namely Rotterdam.
