BiographyMariya Polner is a Senior Policy Advisor at the WCO Enforcement and Compliance Sub-Directorate. Her main areas of work include illicit trade, security and governance. She represents the WCO in several specialized groups such as the OECD Task Force on Countering Illicit Trade (TF-CIT) and INTERPOL Expert Group on Stolen Cultural Property (IEG). Prior to joining the WCO, she worked at the European Commission’s Directorate General on External Relations and at the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine. Mariya holds two degrees: an MA in International Relations from Central European University (Budapest, Hungary), and an MA in EU Politics from the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium). She published a number of articles on Customs matters, security and governance, and she speaks fluent English, French, Russian and Ukrainian.
