BiographyIrene has been covering the technology beat since 1999. She began her career reporting on technology developments in Asia at CNET, which has since been bought over by CBS Interactive. She joined The Straits Times in 2007 as a technology reporter. She covers a wide range of technology-related issues from data privacy and cyber security to telcos and smart cities. Irene won the Singapore Press Holdings English/Malay/Tamil Media group Story of the Year award for her story “Public servants’ computers to have no Net access” from The Straits Times on June 8, 2016.
