BiographySumbangan Baja has completed his Ph.D from School of Geosciences, The University of Sydney, in 2002. He was a Chairmen of Indonesian Society for Remote Sensing Chapter South Sulawesi Province until 2018. He is now Vice Rector for Planning, Finance, and Infrastructure, Hasanuddin University, Indonesia. His research interest is spatial modelling, GIS and Remote Sensing, spatial decision making analysis, and has also collaborated with international agencies: JICA, IDB, World Bank, in geospatial related projects.AbstractSumbangan Baja, Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, Samsu, Risma Neswati | Hasanuddin University The use of geospatial information tools in land use planning can help in promoting some important SDGs indicators through, for instances, intensive and cost-effective land management, facilitating socio-economic activities, improving soil and water quality, and maintaining environmental stability at various scales. In this study, we develop integrated geospatial-based planning support system (called SIMTaRu) within a GIS for updating land use on a regular basis using remote sensing images, detecting conflict between implemented and planned land use in the spatial planning maps (i.e., based on local government policy), and facilitating decision-making processes in land use management. We also use digital spatial planning maps from local government and physical environmental data, as well as survey data to construct geospatial database of the system. The results of this study at this stage are a set of geospatial information and modules of the planning support system for quick decision on land management. Land use conflict in the ground exists, where some unexpected land use types occur within planned protection zones. This study has also resulted in user friendly interactive techniques for answering queries related to effective selection of, and construction of land parameter indices with reference to a planned land use types.
