AbstractThe potential contribution of Earth observation applications to the achievements of SDGs and the monitoring of the associated indicators is widely recognised. However, emphasis has been more on demonstrating what Earth observation can deliver and less on the incorporation of Earth observation as element of geospatial technology in general monitoring and assessment.
Based on an exploratory study on the use of Earth observation for SDGs for the Netherlands the lessons learned and important factors related to the main actors will be presented. In addition, the conditions for a successful cooperation that benefits from the application of geospatial technology, will be discussed, both for the Netherlands and the international context.
