Climate change mitigation is bolstered by effective urban green space planning. This indirect relationship between Climate Change and Urban Green Spaces has necessitated this research. The paper sets a goal to identify and measure the parameters of Climate Change at a micro level. The objective is to analyse, if planned development of urban areas relates to the mitigation factors; since green spaces form a vital part of this planned development and have an important ecological function in direct relation with climate change adaptation factors. The assessment of relationship between urbanization and climate change impacts, which is governed by Urban Green Spaces is quantified using multi criteria evaluation. A comparison between Indian cities is carried out to set benchmarks for our evaluation. The after-effects of climate change are weighted against the trends in available green spaces, using multi-temporal image processing. This paper lastly reviews the policies of MoEF against the requisites for urbanization in India and concludes on the necessary inclusions in policy implementation with a proactive bottom-up approach from macro to micro levels of Urbanization.
