Abstract Comment on Draft UAV's Regulation FrameworkLooking at the economic benefits that commercial UAVs can bring, Govt of India has taken a forward looking step, that is to publish draft a policy and put it up for public discussion and solicit recommendations form all stakeholders and public at large. Govt of India has taken a very bold initiative considering the fact that we have unique and heightened security challenges across India. The draft regulations are put up at DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) website
The draft is heavily influenced from the United States of America’s FAA’s (Federal Aviation Administration) framework of Part 107 and Section 333 of Modernization and Reform Act of 2012. While the US framework deals the subject in utmost detail , our draft can still be improved. While there are several suggestions which will be made which will be more operational in nature, there is one thing which is very striking is that the draft is silent on the nodal enforcement mechanism.
