Workshop by Wageningen UR

Defining the data quality for our processes in a structured way
Date: 25 May 2016 Time: 1300-1500 hrs

Purpose of the workshop including specific learning objectives

In this workshop you will learn how to determine the product characteristics and quality characteristics of the dataset needed for your task in a structured way. Knowing these characteristics, one can better select suitable datasets, being aware of shortcomings which might affect the result and the decisions made based on this result.

Target workshop audience

This workshop is for anyone involved in using datasets to answer questions: data analysts, policy makers, data brokers, etc.

Workshop duration

2 hours

Instructions for participants - materials required

Think about a use case from your work for which we can together determine the product and quality characteristics. What is the question to be answered and what kind of data do you think are needed? Can you already think of specific data quality requirements?

Detailed description of workshop

In our daily work we create policies based on the information we get from our information departments. In many cases, those who collect, analyze and present the information are using datasets they think are best for the task based on their experience. But does the data really has the quality which is needed for the task? And what are the consequences if the quality is not optimal? Do we still make the right decisions? In this interactive workshop we will help you getting an answer to these questions.
