Detailed description of workshop
PDOK (Public Services on a map) has been a successful Dutch public sector collaboration known since more than 4 years. PDOK is a central distribution platform or a portal used for deploying geographical (GEO) datasets and making them available as web services and geographical information files. These geo datasets are supplied by governmental departments and public administrations. They are therefore guaranteed to be up-to-date, reliable and for free. As of April 2016, more than 250 web services are available. In 2015 PDOK had more than 1.7 billion hits on their webservices and is expecting more than 2 billion hits in 2016. To promote excessive usage of the Government geo data deployed by PDOK and to stimulate the open data policy of The Netherlands, PDOK is innovating their organization and infrastructure. New developments include; Geo datastore for free upload and use of downloadable geo datasets, New locationserver for google-like search on location covering more than 1 dataset, APIs on webservices, Inspire compliancy on all provided themes, Table Joining Service for Tabular data, Linked data and connection to the European Location Framework.
