Biography Marc is a partner and co-founder of The Green Land, the Open Data Boutique firm in the Netherlands. He has professional degrees in both law and economics (Utrecht 1991) and he has been active in the European field of data policy for more than 20 years. He was involved in most key European data projects, including all Open Data networking projects (ePSIgate, ePSIplus, ePSI Platform), all legal projects (exclusive rights studies, LAPSI 1 and LAPSI 2) and milestone studies on economic impact of Open Data (MEPSIR, POPSIS and the recent ESA case studies on the impact of GMES data, in collaboration with EARSC). Next to that he is an advisor to Geonovum, the Dutch GI standardization organization. He has published on a wide array of economic and legal issues surrounding Open Data and the is a frequent speaker at international conferences.Abstract Open Data law: untangling the legal labyrinthQuite often legal frameworks are regarded as impediments to open data. In this presentation Marc will guide the audience through and past the legal building blocks surrounding open data re-use end demonstrate their interconnection through the ‘Open Data equation’ and show that they can work together quite effectively.
