Hailing from an academic background in cartography and webmapping, he later joined a mobile navigation software company and gained experience in product management. Currently he is building one of the world’s most detailed user-focused geo-databases dedicated to travel at Booking.com, the market leader in accommodation reservations.Abstract
Frontend A/B testing of travel information
Location plays an important role when travelers choose their place of stay, be it a business trip or a personal holiday. The main goal of our team is understand which type of geo information is in demand and helping different travel segments and purposes.

The Booking.com Travel Destination Database is one of the largest user focused geo databases dedicated to travel. Based on user demand and feedback, local editors in 175+ offices collect and maintain travel information about settlements, neighborhoods, regions, airports and landmarks worldwide, validated and improved through continuous frontend A/B testing.

Frontend A/B testing infrastructure enables us to experiment with new geo features and try changes on a subset of users before rolling it out to the whole public. The learnings from these experiments help us understand users’ geo needs and is also essential in improving the product continuously, in small steps.
