Biography
Rainer Malmberg studied Physical Geography at University Mannheim with a focus on remote sensing and spatial analyses. He gained experience in remote sensing in several leading positions in the private industry. He is currently Business Development Manager at IABG in Munich responsible for international strategic activities with EU agencies as well with international financial Institutions. Abstract
Monitoring urbanization in Latin American Metropolitan Areas in order to evaluate potential urban risk areasUrban disaster risk is a growing problem driven by two megatrends of global change: urbanization and the increasing frequency and intensity of climate-related extreme events. In data scare environment like South America, the decision makers need a time and cost efficient way to evaluate potential hot spots for urban disaster risks. The remote sensing technology combined with semi-automatic classification methods is an efficient way of an urban analyse.
