The INSPIRE GIS
Thursday, 28 May 2015, 1330 – 1500 hrs
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
With the INSPIRE implementation, we are getting access to a large infrastructure that provides high quality, harmonized spatial data. However, common tools such as web or desktop GIS can't work with the complex GML data that is provided.
In this workshop, we explain how to use Open Source applications as a capable, integrated GIS. The workshop will explain how a deegree services backend, wetransform.to ETL and analytics combined with different online + desktop clients can be used to perform everything you would ask for in a proper GIS: Data Management, Collaboration, Analytics and Visualisation, linked by INSPIRE standards, with great User Experience.
In detail, we will walk participants through the following learning objectives:
- Setting up deegree basic and enterprise services to provide secure, fast Direct Access Download Services and View Services
- Using HALE and wetransform.to for transformation, data validation, analysis and service maintenance
- Visualising and analysing rich data in web portals (Geomajas / Sleevemonkey) and desktop clients (QGIS)
TARGET AUDIENCE
The workshop targets geoinformation providers and users interested in learning how INSPIRE services can be set up, managed and used easily. Prior knowledge about deegree or wetransform products is not required. Programming or Database knowledge is also not required, but knowledge of INSPIRE standards is recommended. Users are invited to bring their own data. Required software (in the form a VM + VM host environment) will be provided during the workshop.
WORKSHOP REQUIREMENTS
Participants need to bring their own laptops if they want to follow the instructions.
