WORKSHOP

Leveraging INSPIRE SDI in e-government services: The Oskari Platform
Monday, 25 May 2015, 1500 – 1730 hrs

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Have you ever wondered, how to easily make use of INSPIRE data and other distributed OGC data sources in web/mobile environments? The Oskari platform makes it easy to integrate Embedded map clients consuming INSPIRE data into web portals, such as e-government applications. The Embedded maps can interact with other parts of the application, making it possible to add a variety of map functionality into e-government services without writing any code.

Oskari is a platform built for consuming, visualizing and analysing geospatial data from distributed data sources. The software is open source, extendable and available free of charge for any use case.

The workshop will demonstrate, how to leverage the benefits of the INSPIRE distributed SDI using the Oskari platform.

  • Adding OGC WMS/WMTS/WFS data sources
  • Adding your own data from files, e.g. SHP, MID/MIF, GPX
  • Creating embedded maps for other websites
  • Visualizing statistical data
  • Performing spatial analysis
  • Setting up the Oskari platform

TARGET AUDIENCE

Experts, managers and developers involved with

  • leveraging INSPIRE services and gaining benefits from the INSPIRE SDI
  • e-government services
  • statistical applications and data visualization
  • communications

WORKSHOP REQUIREMENTS

Instructions for participants: No preparation needed. Optionally, participants can use their own laptop for testing Oskari installation as the workshop progresses. In order to do that, following software should be pre-installed:

  • ZIP
  • JDK7
  • PostgreSQL with PostGIS
  • Permissions to create a database into PostgreSQL and permissions to run a local http server with Java
  • Pre-download the zip-file which includes both backend and frontend from http://oskari.org/download

Note! Please ensure the Java Development Kit is properly installed as the Java Runtime Environment is unable to run the http server.
