INSPIRE Lunchtime sessions: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

The INSPIRE Team would like to take the opportunity to give you ‘food for thought’ during the lunchtime sessions, with a focus on how you can become engaged with our activities to support INSPIRE implementation… during and after the conference.

Here’s our menu!

Tuesday (2-3pm) “(For) Starters”: INSPIRE Forum 2.0

With so many stakeholders across Europe, communication within (and outside) the INSPIRE community can be a challenge. As we move from design to implementation, sharing experiences and finding the right information and tools is vital.

Recently, the EC INSPIRE Team has launched several activities to improve stakeholder communication and implementation support. This includes, for example:

  • a redesign of the INSPIRE website,
  • the creation of a forum for sharing implementation experience in thematic communities- the Thematic Cluster Platform
  • the creation of a reference platform containing details about useful software and related materials for implementation- ARE3NA Re3ference Platform
  • Member States’ presentations of their INSPIRE coordination and implementation
  • MIG-P and MIG-T collaborative platform …

We want to bring together these pieces under one roof as a new, integrated INSPIRE Forum 2.0.

The presentation will explain the contribution of each of these online resources and where we encourage collaboration and feedback on topics such as:

  • Projects related to INSPIRE
  • Implementation tools from vendors and open source developers
  • Best practices in communities
  • What is missing: new tools aiding INSPIRE implementation and reuse
  • Added value apps and applications related to SDI, in general, and INSPIRE, in particular.

Wednesday (2-3pm): First bite of the Cluster Platform

With 34 INSPIRE data themes, we want to give our cluster facilitators time to explain the scope of their cluster of themes and how you can use and contribute to the platform- Wednesday the facilitators will give you a taster of the following clusters:

  • Topographic and Cadastral Reference Data (Anja HOPFSTOCK)
  • Elevation, Orthoimagery, Reference Systems, Geographical Grids Cluster (Jordi ESCRIU)
  • Land Cover and Land Use Cluster (Lena HALLIN-PIHLATIE),
  • Environmental Monitoring and Observations Cluster (Alessandro SARRETTA)
  • Statistical Cluster (Mirosław MIGACZ)

Thursday (12:30-1:30pm): Second-helpings!

Did you like what you heard? Do you think there may be other topics of interest to you? Join us on Thursday lunchtime to hear about the following clusters:

  • Biodiversity and Management Areas Cluster (Brian MacSharry)
  • Facilities, Utilities and Public Services Cluster (Angel LOPEZ ALOS)
  • Earth Science Cluster (Tim DUFFY)
  • Marine and Atmosphere Cluster (Keiran MILLARD)

But that’s not all…

The conference is a great opportunity to work together, meet each other and start to build a picture of how the INSPIRE Forum 2.0 will work in practice.

We need your feedback and we want to give you information to take away with you.

The INSPIRE exhibition stand is open all week. Please come and visit us to discuss any topics you like with us (we prefer INSPIRE…).

Moreover, you will find colourful cards in many of the sessions and in the exhibition space that can already help answer your questions and allow you to give us some initial written feedback at the stand.

See you in the exhibition and online!
