The term 'capacity building' emerged in the 1990s as an approach to development that focuses on understanding the obstacles that inhibit organizations from realising their developmental goals, while enhancing the abilities that will allow them to achieve measurable and sustainable results.
This commonly refers to strengthening operational infrastructures and processes but also concerns education and training. Capacity building impacts on all aspects of the geospatial world, from mission and vision to governance, finance, operations and delivery.
The program will discuss following issues:
- Need for considerable capacity building through industry engagement with education and training initiatives
- Utilisation the capabilities of the geospatial workforce to their full potential and satisfied with the current growth trends?
- Difficulties in stepping on the next level and a challenge in procuring competent human resources
- Education and training institutions playing their role effectively and producing the fit-for-job graduates
