European Location Framework

  • The European Location Framework will deliver up-to-date, authoritative, interoperable, cross-border, reference geo-information for use by the European public and private sectors
  • Successful delivery of the platform and cloud services will increase the re-use of Public Sector Information
  • Support use of reference geo-information, for example, in transportation, business, education, defence, utilities and communications, public safety, natural resources, government policy, health & human services
  • Provide a basis for innovative new geospatial services to be developed by commercial European multi-nationals and SMEs.
“This session will provide delegates with the opportunity to find out more about the European Location Framework (ELF), a 3-year project development which commenced in March of this year to build upon the foundations set by the previous ESDIN project. It will explain how the ELF project will deliver the technical infrastructure to harmonise national reference data and the need for better cross-border geospatial reference information for use by the European public and private sectors in a way that is easy to use by both application developers and end users alike. Delegates will have the opportunity to hear from an array of members of the project team on their work and the approach that they are taking. The session also aims to stimulate ideas for the future creation of innovative value-added services which will be enabled by the ELF platform enabling better access to the wealth of public sector information”
