Geospatial World Forum: Defining Dimensions and Directions of Geospatial Industry

Global experts will meet to deliberate on and discuss the Dimensions and Directions of Geospatial Industry at Geospatial World Forum 2011.

New Delhi, India, March 18, 2009 – GIS Development announces launch of the third edition of its largest conference and tradeshow Geospatial World Forum, scheduled to be held in the IT city of India – Hyderabad between January 18 - 21, 2011. In this edition, discussions at the Forum will revolve around the theme, “Dimensions and Directions of Geospatial Industry”. Like in the previous years, Geospatial World Forum will be packaged as a global event with participation from major players of the geospatial industry from across the globe ranging from policy makers, government departments, large user organizations, academicians, researchers and student community.

In the past, Geospatial World Forum has proven to be an important networking and learning ground for its participants, providing an opportunity for all its attendees to extract the most out of such a platform. The last Geospatial World Forum had participation from more than 1700 delegates from over 40 countries. This year, it is expected to host around 2000 + delegates, half of whom will be representing countries other than India. The theme of Geospatial World Forum 2011 will steer presentations and discussions to unfold the potentials that geospatial technologies hold with respect to making it more accessible and useful for societal development. Geospatial World Forum 2011 shall enable technologists to get a peep into what the future holds for the decision makers and users alike in terms of usage and applications of this technology. On the other hand, the users will attempt to present to the scientists and technologists their demands and expectations in order to best utilise this tool for their respective domains.

Each year, GIS Development makes efforts to design some special feature or attraction in each of its conferences to make it unique. This year at Geospatial World Forum, a pre-conference programme on ‘National Mapping Organisation (NMO) - Industry Exchange Forum’ is being organised. This two-day programme will encourage delegates to deliberate upon concerns, issues, opportunities and challenges of each stakeholder of this domain to find out some common grounds and strategies in order to help each other and contribute to the overall growth of geospatial industry. This exclusive session will be on invitation only and will include heads of NMOs from more than 30 countries, senior industry representatives and heads of international associations/institutions.

Another highlight of Geospatial World Forum 2011 will be the ‘Geospatial Users Forum’, which shall bring together 50 large and innovative users of geospatial industry from across the globe to share their success stories from a single platform. These Users will also be felicitated at Geospatial World Forum.

Apart from the above, the conference will have the world’s leading speakers on geospatial technologies from industry, government agencies, user organizations and academia on various connected topics at the Plenary Sessions, Workshops, Technical Sessions and Seminars. One of the major attractions of Geospatial World Forum conference will be the concurrently held exhibition spread over more than 3000 sq mtr area displaying the latest and best technology available within the geospatial domain and its user community.
