INSPIRE also affects environmental sensor data like observation data of weather stations. Within the INSPIRE Annex III theme "Atmospheric Conditions and Meteorological Geographical Features" the metrological data of the Institute of Agronomical and Food Research and Development of Murcia (IMIDA) was transferred in an INSPIRE compliant data schema and made available as an INSPIRE Download service. In addition the “Observations & Measurements" (O&M) data was used to implement a prototype of an INSPIRE compliant OGC Sensor Observation Service (SOS). The used SOS Server was extended with INSPIRE specific capabilities, e.g. additional language- and CRS parameters for SOS requests and additional INSPIRE metadata, to set up an INSPIRE compliant Download Service. The SOS aims to enable direct and flexible access to the data of the weather stations with SOS clients and provide a significant benefit in the use of sensor data. This presentation gives an insight into the lessons learned with implementing the INSPIRE Download Service via ATOM Feeds and describes the first experiences in building a prototype for an INSPIRE SOS at IMIDA.
