It is my extreme pleasure to inform you that in 2017, Survey of India will be celebrating its 250th anniversary. Established in 1767, Survey of India is one of the oldest survey establishments in the world and is the principal mapping agency and the oldest scientific department in India. It spearheads various mapping and geospatial initiatives for the nation and has worked in close association with numerous partners, counterparts and multilateral agencies around the world.
In order to make this once-in-a- lifetime event, Survey of India is organizing a year-long series of events to remember the contributions made by our great predecessors and to look forward to a new era of geospatial evolution that would help India achieve economic milestone and the Sustainable Development Goals. These celebrations will commence at Geospatial World Forum from 22-25 January, 2017 at Hyderabad, India.
Geospatial World Forum is a premier global geospatial conference that covers all aspects of geospatial technologies including Surveying, Mapping, Cartography, Photogrammetry, Satellite Remote Sensing, 3D etc., while also addressing relevant policies and current and upcoming applications of these technologies for achieving a variety of socio-economic goals. Expected to be attended by over 3000 professionals from around the world, Geospatial World Forum will include an array of programmes like Plenary, Workshops, Symposiums, Technology Tracks, International Exhibition of products and services etc. This mega event will be organized in partnership with almost 100 organizations worldwide.
