BiographyDatuk Mark Rozario was Group Managing Director of a Malaysian listed property group, before stepping down to assume his current role at AIM in 2011. He is charged with driving AIM, a government statutory body chaired by the country’s prime minister, to implement a national innovation strategy. AIM was created to jump start wealth creation through knowledge, technology and innovation to stimulate and develop the innovation eco-system in Malaysia by laying down the foundation of innovation to inspire and produce a new generation of innovative entrepreneurs.
Datuk Mark Rozario graduated with a BSc degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.Abstract Empowering Commercialisation via a Complete Innovation EcosystemToday, governments around the world recognise that the successful commercial deployment of cutting edge research and innovation is crucial to drive national growth, employment and economic development.
The capability to cultivate creativity and bringing innovation successfully to the market will be a crucial determinant of the global competitiveness of nations over the next decade. Knowing the importance, Malaysia has started to prioritise its national agenda by embedding innovation as one of the major themes of its national economic model and also create an ecosystem which ensures innovation is seen as a clear way to generate new wealth for the nation.
The Malaysian government has also started to invest in a complete innovation ecosystem to support the innovation-to-commercialisation model and this includes building the culture, incentives and norms to facilitate new ways of working to deliver maximum impact with minimum cost.
Agensi Inovasi Malaysia (AIM) is the statutory body created to jump start wealth creation through knowledge, technology and innovation to stimulate and develop the innovation eco-system in Malaysia via six key approaches to innovation

6. Catalyse Commercialisation
AIM is also not working in isolation. All these initiatives share a multi-helix strategy of collaborations between various Government, Industry, Academia and Public stakeholders to help ensure Malaysia becomes a self-sufficient industrialised and innovative nation by the year 2020, encompassing all aspects of life, from economic and financial prosperity to societal well-being and happiness.
