Abstract Automated generalisation for map production at Ordnance Survey This paper will describe the journey that Ordnance Survey has followed for many years as it has strived to develop its techniques and processes to automatically generate derived mapping products from its large scale national geospatial database. The success of these ventures now underpin the routine production of a portfolio of open and premium digital products for Great Britain and is a classic example of ‘survey once, use many’.
